4 Flute Drill Bits

4 flute drill bits have 4 cutting slots, also known as flutes. They're mostly used for creating a hole, and then side milling that hole into a different shape. Sometimes they're used for enlarging holes that have been previously drilled or cast. This hole enlargement / re-shaping is done prior to reaming.
