The Differences between the Reeflo Silver Dart Snapper Pump and the Gold Super Dart Snapper Pump

The Differences between the Reeflo Silver Dart Snapper Pump and the Gold Super Dart Snapper Pump

The Reeflo Silver Dart Snapper Water Pump and the Gold Super Dart Snapper Pump seem nearly identical at first glance. However, there are several key distinctions between the two that should be understood prior to buying. Understanding these differences will ensure you get the right pump for your aquarium or setup.

First, it's important to understand what Reeflo means by Dart, Snapper & Hybrid. While dart / snapper is the name of the pump, it ALSO refers to the impeller options. If you purchase a "hybrid" pump, both impellers (the dart and snapper) are included. However, you could save some money with the Dart only or Snapper Only options. Each impeller has different pressures and GPH. A table below goes over all options.

Below are the main differences between the Silver Dart Snapper Pump and the Gold Super Dart Snapper Pump

Cord Length:

  • Dart-Snapper Silver: 12'
  • Superdart-Snapper Gold - 15'

Warranty Duration:

  • Dart-Snapper Silver: 3 years
  • Superdart-Snapper Gold - 5 years

Pressure / GPH (Gallons Per Hour):

Generally, the rule of thumb for finding the correct pump for your aquarium size is 5 GPH per every gallon of water in the tank for freshwater, 6-7 for saltwater. The section below will show the GPH for both parts at different pressure levels.

Dart-Snapper SIlver:

(Pressure / Snapper GPH / Dart GPH)

  • 0' / 2400  / 3700
  • 4'/ 1900 / 3035
  • 7' / 1400 / 2500
  • 10' /450 /  1520
  • 12' / 0 / 630

Superdart-Snapper Gold:

(Pressure / Snapper GPH / Superdart GPH)

  • 0' / 2600 / 4200
  • 2' / 2250 / 3900
  • 4' / 1900 / 3400
  • 6' / 1650 / 3010
  • 8' / 1100 / 2470
  • 10' / 750 / 1850
  • 12' / 300 / 1150
  • 14' / 0 / 650

Color: Colors may vary depending on the model/combinations you use.

  • Dart Snapper Silver: Silver/Black
  • Super Dart/Snapper Gold: Gold/White
  • IMPORTANT: While confusing, the actual color of the housing does NOT always match the item name. Sometimes Reeflo will ship a Dart Snapper Silver with a gold housing.

Again, both pumps will come with TWO impellers if the "hybrid" option is selected. This will give you different GPH at different pressures, giving it a lot of valuable variability.
